Patrick Foster joined the Arizona State University Police Department after spending 22 1/2 years with the Mesa Police Department. During his career in Mesa, he worked a variety of assignments including Patrol Operations, their Community Action Team and Criminal Investigations. He also served 3 year assignments as the lieutenant over the Nationally accredited Mesa Center Against Family Violence and the East Valley Gang and Criminal Information Fusion Center.

Prior to serving as the Assistant Chief of Police for ASUPD, Patrick was a member of the Sun Devil family serving as an Event Services Supervisor in the Athletic Department for 4 1/2 years overseeing guest relations and security for the various Sun Devil athletic events. He assisted the Fiesta Bowl Committee each year with operations for the Fiesta Bowl and Cactus Bowl games. In his current role as Assistant Chief over the Support Services Bureau, Patrick oversees areas including Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention, Training, Records, Evidence and Dispatch. In addition to these responsibilities, he serves as the liaison with and is responsible for safety and security for Sun Devil Athletics.

Patrick has a Bachelor's of Science in Public Safety Administration and earned his Master's Degree in Emergency Management - Homeland Security from Arizona State University. He is a graduate of the AZPOST Leadership in Police Organizations course, Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management in Policing Institute.
